Tine Smak - Coffee

Second of two ads for the Norwegian dairy producer Tine. They launched 2 milk products with subtle tastes, this one being coffee.
The idea was someone capturing the bean in a glass, as they "capture the aroma" of this berry in their product.
Originally we were supposed to track all the shots, but this proved impossible due to the lack of tracking features and the extreme shallow DOF on the footage. All cameras were consequentially hand animated as best could be done. The bean was built, textured and shaded by me, partly animated by an in-house animator, point cached back to Max, then rendered by a colleague me, and lastly comped by me. We also hand animated any matte surfaces etc. as needed, and animated the bean on some shots.

Fun fact: I ended up modelling/detailing at least half a dozen beans, as someone higher up kept on claiming the slit in the bean looked too much like female genitalia. I guess this is more telling about them than me or the beans.
